What does it take to become successful

I think many people struggle which this thought: ‘What does it take to be successful?’. I guess it depends on your outlook on life. Some people might think living in a big house, having a high position job and having lots of money and things is the epitome of success. For others it might be living a virtuous, pious or spiritual life or helping your fellow human beings or nature. It all depends on setting your goal and going for it.

And there were it often goes wrong. Setting your goal too high or ‘the going for it’ ends up somewhere between good intentions and sloth. First of all set yourself an attainable goal. Even if you want to rule the world or be the richest person on it (which often coincide) start with baby steps. Rome wasn’t build in seven days like we always say. We might look with envy at other people who are further down the road to their goal and we want to be in the same place now. But remember they had to go some way before they got were they are now. Just work on small steps towards your goal and have patience that one day you will arrive there as long as you stay focused on it.

That brings us to giving up on your goal. Either because of real life getting in the way or it just all seems too difficult, you lose sight of your goal and you energy for going for it is gone. It’s hard to avoid this, because everyone has their bad moments and then forgets about it. That’s why you really need to be passionate about what you are trying to achieve, then the energy will come to you even when the going gets though. And don’t forget to look back sometimes and watcg and enjoy what you have achieved thus far and congratulate yourself on that. And when you do lose sight of your goal, don’t blame yourself or get discouraged. Just refocus and continue with new energy and without any guilt. Keeping it positive already gets you halfway there.

So what does it take to be successful? Finding a goal your are passionate about and taking manageable steps towards it and enjoying the journey!
